Designing Clarity 01 – Alrick Dorett – Captaining Yourself and Your Ship

EP01-podcast title screen

Bam!  Here comes the real first episode.

The famous military strategist Sun Tzu said:

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.  – Extracted from The Art of War.

I always love this quote.  And through my life experiences, I have learned to look inwards to understand myself first before equating any failure to eternal circumstances.  If COVID-19 is the enemy, then perhaps the first step towards beating it (and of course clarity) is to know thyself.

I thought it would be a great start to the designing clarity podcast to invite a good friend of mine Alrick Dorett to talk about “Captaining yourself and your ship”.  While he is the chief pricing officer at TBWA, we are not going to talk about his work.  Rather, his writings on coaching and self-management in the time of COVID.  Check out the podcast below:

If you are interested in his writings we referenced during the podcast, do check them out at Port and Starboard and Listening.
