PROJECT SCOPE

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc, founded in 1957, is a pioneer in the semiconductor industry and that pioneering spirit endures today.  Prior to its acquisition in 2016, Design Sojourn was engaged to run a series of workshops to help in the transformation of a B2B manufacturing focused organisation into one that is service oriented, customer-centric and creative.

The Senior Management of Fairchild are strong advocates of Design Thinking and wanted it to be part of their organisational culture.  They saw the value of the DT process and the advantage it provided in solving business problems and innovating the way they run their back-end (BE) manufacturing sites based in Asia.

Design Sojourn was their consultant of choice to design and facilitate a 3 Day Senior Management (C Suite, GMs and above) Retreat in Cebu to see how the Design Thinking methodology can be used to solve problems in the domains of Quality Assurance, Employee Engagement, Manufacturing Excellence, and New Product Introduction.

Design Sojourn started the project by running extensive interviews and surveyed multiple stakeholders in the organisation to understand their challenges, needs, and motivations.  This lead to a baseline to see how the organisation could transform their corporate culture and innovate the way they work.

During the Retreat in Cebu, participants were introduced to the design thinking process, and in a very hands-on manner used design thinking to identified organisational wide themes and solutions.

The outcomes of the Retreat was so successful that the CEO and regional GMs wanted this experience for their own locations.  Design Sojourn was then engaged to create a strategy to localise the themes to their Asians locations in Singapore, Cebu, and Suzhou.

Design Sojourn was finally invited to run a concluding workshop with their HQ team in Silicon Valley, USA.

  • 5 x 3 Day workshops in 4 Locations – Singapore, USA, Cebu and China.
