16 Years, Over 500 Projects, and Now a Leading Social Enterprise

raiSE Leading Social EnterpriseOn 27 September, without much fanfare, Design Sojourn marked 16 years as a design and business innovation consulting company with more than 500 projects behind us. It is a mind-boggling number (and we are starting to lose count).

Looking back, much of what we have achieved comes from one belief, that design has the power to make people’s lives better. It has allowed us to work with many amazing clients and organisations who care about this as much as we do. What may be less obvious is a second, connected belief, that this power should be accessible to everyone.

Therefore, it is no accident that over the last 10 of our 16 years, around 100 of our projects have been with social service agencies, charities and healthcare organisations.

Our largest was the TechBooster Programme with NCSS, where we worked on the human layer of 83 digital transformation projects with social service agencies. In addition to this, we helped redesign the organisational digital operations strategy at WWF (the World Wide Fund for Nature). For THKMC, we reimagined Family Service Centres (FSCs) and their services for at-risk Singaporeans. We delivered a branding design and service innovation programme for JiaYou at Chinatown Point with Montfort Care, Yong-en and Fei Yue, and fixed booking workflows at Playeum. We are currently managing the human side of digital transformation with Boys’ Town and rethinking patient rehabilitation services in Singapore. Beyond Singapore, we have worked with international development organisations such as USAID, and with healthcare providers in Indonesia. This year, 25% of our projects have been for the social and care sectors.

So we are pleased to share that on 30 September 2026, the Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise (raiSE) recognised Design Sojourn as a Leading Social Enterprise.

raiSE describes a Leading Social Enterprise as a business that has made significant progress towards its social impact goals, embedded social impact into its core business practices, and sustained a commercially viable business model.

In other words, we run on a double bottom line. It is a difficult balance. Without revenue, a social enterprise cannot sustain itself to do good, and without social impact it is simply another business.

Our commitment to making this work

First, a big thank you to our corporate clients. Every project you have commissioned with us has helped us pay it forward. We are committed to returning 20% of what we earn to fund our social innovation work, through reduced rates, pro bono consultation and customised services. This lets us give social sector organisations the same team, the same process and the same high-quality work we deliver to you.

They say doing good is good business, and we agree. If our beliefs resonate with you and you are interested in working with us, do let us know through our contact form, and our founder, Brian Ling, will get in touch.
